The Challenge
Etude needed their existing website rebuilt in WordPress. The site had a specific visual style the client was committed to keeping, but it wasn’t built in WordPress and the team couldn’t edit it effectively. Beyond the platform migration, the real complexity was structural: Etude’s substantial catalogue of individual sustainability and engineering services needed to be classified and made filterable across two independent facets (building type and project stage), and their projects catalogue needed a similarly large, filterable content model, including a separate, restricted-access internal database for Etude’s own team.
The Outcome
Delivered a WordPress rebuild that preserved Etude’s existing visual identity while making the site properly editable for the first time, with a working filterable taxonomy across a genuinely large, multi-axis services catalogue. Etude has since undergone at least one further full site redesign, so no claim of ongoing structural continuity is made here.
The Approach
Ran a genuine content audit of the existing site before rebuilding, page by page, assessing content quality, ownership, and value to both visitors and the organisation. Rebuilt the site on WordPress using the Genesis Framework and Dynamik Web Builder child theme, deliberately preserving the client’s existing visual identity rather than imposing a new one, so moving to an editable CMS wouldn’t mean losing a design the client already valued. The real design effort went into the content model: built the Services catalogue as custom post types with custom fields, cross-referencing each individual service against building type (residential, non-residential, mixed use) and project stage (brief and strategy through to evaluation) so visitors could filter down to what actually applied to them. Applied the same approach to the Projects catalogue, plus a separate sign-in-gated internal projects database for Etude’s own team, kept out of main navigation and search indexing.
